Southwick Revival is a fantastically nostalgic event commemorating the D Day Landings. Lucky attendees get the chance to enjoy exclusive sneak peaks of the wonderful Map Room at Southwick Park, whilst all visitors can indulge in the sights and smells of 1940’s England whilst wandering through the Squires Paddock filled with a vintage fun fair, refuel on home made cake from Ma Attwell’s tea room and marvel at the motorcade rumbling through the village!
But as fun as that all is, that is not the reason why over 100 volunteers come together to deliver the event in June.
Southwick Revival’s main focus is fundraising. And to date (2023) we are amazed to have generated £229,000!
2023 saw our second best year yet raising £46,000 of which over £30,000 was awarded to local charities. Please see below details of whom we support and how you can help them too.
SSAFA is the oldest tri- service military charity. Since 1885, they have provided lifelong support to our Forces and their families
Their support covers both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service regardless service length.
Recent research shows that service leavers aged 25-64 need more specialised support. The challenges they face are complex – from low income to life-changing injuries or hidden wounds, like depression or post-traumatic stress disorder.
Armed with this information, SSAFA have been improving their services for younger, working-age veterans, and ensuring this demographic know they have support when they need us.
How they help:
SSAFA helps the armed forces community in a number of ways, though their focus is on providing direct support to individuals in need of physical or emotional care.
Addiction, relationship breakdown, debt, homelessness, post-traumatic stress, depression and disability are all issues that can affect members of the Armed Forces community. Many of these problems only become apparent when an individual has to leave their life in the Forces and join ‘Civvy Street’. SSAFA is committed to helping our brave men and women overcome these problems, and rebuild their lives.
What makes ssafa unique?
SSAFA has been supporting the Armed Forces for more than 130 years, helping thousands of people in the UK and on military bases around the world. But it’s not just this that makes them unique.
The needs of serving men and women and of veterans are becoming more diverse as the world and military landscape changes. So SSAFA work hard to make sure their services are flexible. They constantly adapt to fit ever changing requirements, offering everyone they work with a range of tailored services to help them navigate life in and beyond the military.
SSAFA works in partnership with other military charities and specialist organisations to ensure that those who turn to us for help get the support they need.
Where we are?
SSAFA provides support wherever it is needed in the UK and worldwide. Their volunteer network reaches into every county of the UK and 11 countries around the world, operating on or near to the UK’s overseas bases. They coordinate their activities from the central office in London and via regional teams and committees.

Alabaré supports vulnerable, homeless and marginalised people. We help them transform their lives, providing accommodation and helping them gain the skills, confidence and opportunities to live a fulfilled life.
While we support a range of client groups, we structured our service to support homeless and vulnerable veterans, recognising the unique journey someone encounters having served in our Armed Forces. A pathway of supported accommodation and training, education and mental health support is available to anyone who has served in the British Armed Forces for more than one day. We welcome veterans from across the UK. It is estimated that between 100-400 veterans sleep rough every year, and a further 3,000-4,000 face homelessness in cars or derelict buildings. It costs £1.788m to run the Homes for Veterans supported housing programme, with £800,000 to be raised through fundraising each year. Alabaré’s Boots on the Ground and Veterans Self-Build Scheme requires a further £500,000 – none of this currently receives Government funding.

Rowans Hospice provide palliative and end of life care to the highest quality for those living with a life-limiting illness in the Southeast of Hampshire. Our highly trained hospice carers help to improve quality of life for the patient by easing physical symptoms as well as offering psychological, spiritual and social support to both patients and their loved ones.
Our dedicated hospice care is available round the clock either in house or at home, as well as offering services for day visitors in our Living Well Centre. Wellbeing events and classes are available to carers, patients and the bereaved with no referral required.
Whilst our care is provided free of charge, we are in fact a hospice charity and 90% of our income is generated by legacies, donations, fundraising and our retail shops. Through your generous donations and fundraising we continue to provide much needed support to the community and make a difference to so many lives and for this we thank you.
Wickam Food Pantry is a membership-based scheme providing a sustainable and long term solution for the problem of food poverty in Wickham and surrounding areas. Visitors pay £5 which allows them to shop in the pop up shop based in Wickham Community Centre which opens every Tuesday, giving attendees access to nourishing food which may not have been possible without these scheme.
