Q: How do I get tickets for the Map Room, I have missed out before? A: Subscribe to the newsletter which will allow you to access the link to purchase priority tickets for 2024.
Q: When will I receive my tickets? A: The email receipt you received at the time of booking is your only ticket. Please print it and bring it or ensure you can find it on your device to show on the gate.
Q: I have tickets but I’m not sure where to park or where to go? A: You will receive instructions appropriate to your ticket purchase 10 – 14 days prior to the event.
Q: I’ve lost my ticket email? A: Send an email to [email protected] to ask for us to resend them to you.
Q: What refreshments and food are available? A: Map room ticket attendees can pre-book lunch at Old Ma’s tea room as part of their ticket, general attendees can pop in for a drink and cake through out the event. The Red Lion and Golden Lion will both have great food offerings over the weekend and at the Squire’s Paddock you will find a vintage food truck and ice cream seller.
Q: Does the 40’s Tearoom serve Gluten, Dairy, Nut Free or Vegan Cakes? A: We serve a small quantity of Gluten Free sponges. Cannot guarantee the cakes are dairy free or vegan. Also the cakes are baked in kitchens which can’t be guaranteed nut free environs. Customers are encouraged to ask Ma Attwell if they are unsure.
Q: Is there an ATM in the Village? A: No, although the Post Office dispense cash over the counter.
Q: Is there good phone reception/signal? A: O2 and Vodaphone are especially poor, EE and 3 are strong. The public phonebox may be in working condition!
Q: Any public transport to the Village? A: The last service bus passed through the village about 20 years ago. Portchester is the nearest railway station, 2.25 miles over Portsdown Hill.
Q: Can we camp? What facilities are there for camping? A: There is limited availability for camping/camper vans, mainly aimed at re-enactors and military vehicle owners. Please enquire here: [email protected]
Q: What is the age limit for the tunnels? Children to be accompanied by an adult at all times, we recommend this is suitable for age 12 plus, parental discretion is advisable for younger age groups.
Q: What is it like down in the tunnels? Attendees to this experience must be in good health, there are 168 steps to descend and slightly uneven ground. The tour takes place underground with no access to direct light. The exit is on the flat.
Q: What is the post code for the village? We advise if you use PO17 6EB which will direct you to the village, however as you get closer please follow event parking signs. Gold Car Park users will have the post code of their car park printed on their tickets,
Q: When do advanced ticket sales stop? A: You can buy your ticket up to the day for advanced ticket sales and take advantage of the discounted price!
Q: Do the gates take cash and card? A: Yes.
Q: My elderly relative may not be able to manage to climb aboard the vintage bus, are there alternative arrangements for transport to the Map Room? A: Yes, but please inform us beforehand which trip they will be on.
Q: Can I take my mobility scooter into the Map Room? A: Wheelchairs only are allowed in the Map Room.
Q: Can I go to Southwick House and RMP Museum during the weekend? A: Only if you have purchased a ticket for the Map Room visit
Q: What parking arrangements are there for disabled visitors? A: Parking for disabled Blue Badge holders is in the car park in front of the D-Day Memorial Hall with additional spaces in the Southwick Park car parks outside the main gate. Registered carers go free on production of their carers ID.
Q: Is the main car park a field? A: The general public car park is a grass field adjacent to the B2177 Southwick By-Pass. It is a distance of 500 m from half way across the field to the centre of the village. Babies/children’s buggies will be fine but wheelchairs with adults aboard would be hard going. Disabled parking on hard surface with paved access is available (see above) and is not restricted to Blue Badge holders. We just ask those who don’t need it not to take up space in these parking areas.
Q: Are there disabled toilets available? A: Disabled toilets are located in the D-Day Memorial Hall, the Village Shop and behind the event marquee opposite the Red Lion (porta-loo type)
Q: Are dogs welcome? A: Well behaved dogs are welcome to the event but not allowed in the Map Room and Fort Southwick Tunnels with the exception of Guide Dogs in the Map Room. It is the responsibility of the owner to keep them on a lead and clear up any mess.
Q: Can I bring my car and park it on the high street? We invite owners to bring age appropriate (Pre 1945) vehicles to line and decorate the roadside of High Street and West Street, to help commemorate Southwick Revival taking place on the 8th and 9th of June. HOWEVER if you wished to get these prime parking spaces, it is on a first come first served basis and cars must in place by 9am, and not removed until 5pm. We are expecting significant footfall for the event and to ensure guests safety we will have very limited vehicle movements during the event.
