Fort Southwick Tunnels

Fort Southwick was the home of UGHQ, the Underground Headquarters, in a vast network of tunnels 100 feet beneath Portsdown Hill.

Here 700 WRENS and Naval officers received and transmitted signals which shaped and informed the Supreme Commanders in nearby Southwick House.

Tracking the most enormous Armada in history as it crossed the English Channel to launch the greatest seaborne invasion, beginning the Liberation of Europe from the grip of the Nazis.

Fort Southwick Tunnel Experience Ticket include:

  • General entry ticket

  • Acccess to Gold Car Park

  • Transport to and from Fort Southwick via period shuttle bus

  • Entry to Fort Southwick and immersive tour of the tunnels.

  • Special immersive underground experience lasting 45 minutes

  • Return trip to village event.

Strictly limited to 60 people per tour

The tour will last approx 1 hour and 45 minutes including transport and tunnels.

Choose from departures; 9:45am, 11am, 12:15pm, 13:30pm and 14:45pm

Entry to Fort Southwick  to ticket holders only, riding in shuttle bus.

No direct entry via main gate to the Fort. Shuttle bus will return visitors to the bus stop.

Attendees to this experience must be in good health.

There are 168 steps to descend and slightly uneven ground. The exit is on the flat.

The tour takes place underground with no access to direct light.

Children to be accompanied by an adult at all times, we recommend this is suitable for age 12 plus, parental discretion is advisable for younger age groups.
